ASAD BUNASHI ( THE JOURNEY ) modern art

Before we go through this intellectual journey that will lead us into new dimensions of thinking, we have to be aware that it is the journey of humanity. It is my journey and yours. It has nothing to do any religious, ethnic or personal thoughts. It is all about knowledge.

The idea of this exhibition started nine months ago after going through multiple researches. They were questions and speculations that make one want to know the truth behind life and how it started. How was it? How will it be after decades? We have theories based on scientific evidence, researches, and expeditions to cities across the world and university studies. This controversial issue has been the subject of documentary movies and discussion amongst chemists and professors in microbiology.Working on the conception and drawing the people took a lot of time and effort. Choosing the right features of the people who represent the three races was basic for the comparison.

This exhibition is one of the most important modern researches and unique in classification. It includes three artistic trends: modern realism, post realism and video arts. All are combined into a “small biennale” that explores the human heritage from ancient civilizations and extinct races to take us in a projection to the world ofspace, astronomy and the cosmos, thus extending the perception scope of reality, history, science and beliefsacross centuries. This is the idea behind this journey.

The name of the first exhibition -Afarensis- was derived from the book of Donald Johansson The Beginnings of Humankind. It was a comparison of facial features of primitive creatures called Australopithecus afarensiswhich were discovered by scientists in anthropology. The exhibition was also a comparison between those old forms and Man nowadays.
.

This comparison is based on post realism trend which is a philosophy and an artistic school. It is built on scientific facts about the different human races. Anthropologists determined three of them. The largest one is theCaucasian which includes Europeans and the white. The second race is the Mongolian. The third one is the black skinned mainly from Africa.

Scientists and paleontologist have intensively studied fossils and dinosaurs. After discovering Lucy afarensis (Australopithecus), they wanted to know how she lived and how she looked like. They worked with a group ofspecialists in chemistry to determine how old she was.Paleontologist and sculptors worked on modelling the skull depending on an anatomy research. Biological theories of natural selection and this discovery lead them to a simulation to this creature which was similar to amonkey. This result was adopted by the science ofpaleontology as the closest visualization to this extinctcreature.
